Thusharagiri Waterfalls is located about 50 kms from Kozhikode town. Two streams originating from the Western Ghats meet to form the Chalippuzha River. The river then diverges into three waterfalls creating a snowy spray, which gives the name, ‘Thusharagiri’.Thusharagiri offers endless scope for trekking, rock climbing and wild life sanctuary visits. Thusharagiri waterfalls are a must visit on your Kozhikode trip, especially for nature and adventure lovers.

Kappad Beach

Kappad beach is of historical importance, as this is the beach where Vasco Da Gama and his sailors landed in India with three ships in the year 1498. This was the start of economic relationship between Europeans and this part of India now called Kerala. A stone monument is erected on the beach to commemorate this event. Kappad Beach is a nice relaxed beach in Kozhikode for tourists and one must have the local coconut water here.

For history enthusiasts, a Kozhikode trip would be incomplete without a visit to the Pazhassi Raja Museum and Art Gallery. This museum houses artefacts from the Megalithic Age and the Indus Valley civilization. It has on display ancient coins, antique bronzes sculptures and utensils, miniature models of temples made from plaster of Paris, mural paintings etc. Umbrella stones and burial urns which were the tombs of the rulers are on present here. Special idols called ‘Panchaloha idols’ which are made of an alloy of 5 metals is also one of the interesting things here.

Mananchira Square

Mananchira Square is situated in the heart of the city and is named after the Mananchira pond that spans an area of a square kilometer. The Square comprises various important buildings including the Commonwealth Trust office, Town Hall and Public Library. This place has a lot of history associated with it. In ancient times it used to be the main courtyard of the Zamorin Rulers palace. Presently, it has been converted into a beautiful park. The area now has trees, plants, shrubs, artificial hills and sculptures. There is also a musical fountain, artificial stream, open-air theater and music stage.
