Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

Kumarakom Bird sanctuary is a very famous bird sanctuary situated on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. It is spread through 15 acres of land.Approximately 91 species of local birds and about 50 species of migratory birds can be found here. One can see birds such as owl, waterfowl, cuckoo, brahminy kite, egret, darter, heron, cormorant, lark, teal, parrot and moorhen. Migratory birds are seen here during their respective migratory seasons. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a heaven or bird lovers and definitely one of the most interesting tourist attractions in Kottayam.
